Hard Drives

— built-in hard drives, similar in design to those used in computer technology. The main advantage of this option is the low cost in terms of 1 GB of capacity — much lower than that of flash, which is indispensable when creating drives with volumes of the order of hundreds of gigabytes. On the other hand, with relatively small volumes, the advantages of HDD are not so noticeable; in addition, these media are heavy and power-consuming, are sensitive to shocks and do not work as fast as flash modules, and you cannot replace the disk when full — you need to delete the contents from it. Due to all these shortcomings, HDDs in camcorders are quite rare and in most cases are supplemented with slots for interchangeable cards (see "memory card").
