Keep Bean Beetle Cultures in temperatures between 75 degree F and 85 degree F. Keep at a humidity level around 50%. Each culture will produce hundreds of beetles over several weeks. We ship the cultures after the first generation of adult beetles have died off and eggs have been laid on the beans. These Rice Flour Beetles cultures consist of around 100 breeding adults and a good amount of flour media. They are ages a full month before shipping. When Rice Flour Beetles do breed, they are very easy to maintain and can go months without any upkeep, making them an ideal 'special treat' or 'backup feeder' if you run out of other feeder insects. Adult Rice Flour Beetles are capable of emitting an unpleasant tasting chemical when threatened, making them unpalitable to many animals.
