Such a camera is mounted at the rear of the car, usually above or in the bumper, and allows you to see what is happening behind you much better than through ordinary mirrors. The presence of a separate connector simplifies the connection of such a camera to the monitor and allows you not to worry about switching modes: the broadcast from the camera is displayed on the screen automatically when you turn on the reverse gear, regardless of what was shown on the screen at that moment.
