Minion DHF Dual Compound/EXO/TR 29in Tire

Something of a fixture on the trails in the past few years, the Maxxis Minion, in all it's various iterations, has been livin... moreg up to its name famously since its creation. Nimbler than its Highroller II Sibling and scrappy enough to stay standing through loose, white-knuckle sections of trail, we'd reach for the 29in Minion DHF EXO/TR Tire gladly on days that challenge us to stay engaged through every mile. As we mentioned, the Minion comes in different combinations of compounds and casings; this version is equipped with a dual compound rubber construction to give it speed on smooth singletrack or the occasional fire road, with dependable grip and traction when the going gets rougher and switchbacks appear. To give you the confidence to take on bumps and bruises and a few bigger-than-intended hits, this Minion also comes with the reassurance of Maxxis EXO protection beefing it up. Finally, a collection of squared off, ramped knobs are responsible for grabbing onto the trail and digging in, arranged strategically to give you traction while cornering without slowing you down too much on the straightaways and descents. The Minion's far from the speediest tire in existence, but it's not trying to be the fastest. Staying efficient on the smooth stuff and being ready to dive in when things get messy is the Minion DHF's mission, and it does so with aplomb.

Maxxis Minion DHF Tires - Black - 29x2.3 TB96785000

With a tread design that deftly balances rolling speed with braking and cornering traction, it’s no wonder why the Minion DHF... moreis one of the most imitated tires in mountain biking. Whether riding local trails, a backcountry epic, racing Enduro or World Cup downhill, there’s a Minion DHF spec to meet your needs. FEATURES: - Dual Compound: Offers low rolling resistance and increased cornering traction - 3C MaxxTerra Compound: An intermediate triple compound configuration used across our mountain tire line. The 3C MaxxTerra compound offers more traction than 3C MaxxSpeed, yet provides better treadwear and less rolling resistance than MaxxGrip, which makes it ideal for trail riding in all conditions. - 3C MaxxGrip Compound: The stickiest, slowest rebounding rubber Maxxis offers in a mountain bike tire. This high traction compound is the same one used by our top World Cup Downhill and Enduro World Series athletes and is now available in a variety of casing configurations to cover all riders. - EXO Casing: A cut- and abrasion-resistant material added to the sidewalls of many Maxxis mountain bike and gravel tires. This densely woven fabric is lightweight and highly flexible, ensuring that the performance of the tire remains unaffected. Choose EXO Protection for enhanced durability for gravel, XC, and light-duty trail riding. - EXO + Casing: Medium-duty puncture protection option suitable for all-around trail riding and light weight e-bikes. Beginning with a durable 60 TPI casing, add in legendary EXO puncture protection layer in the sidewalls, and top it off with a small butyl insert around the bead. The tough casing and EXO material ward off damage from rocks and roots, while the butyl insert protects the tire from pinch flats and helps prevent rim damage. - Wide Trail (WT) Construction: Optimizes the tire’s tread layout and profile on today’s modern, wider rims. Traditional tires are designed around older, narrower rims and can create an overly square tire profile, leading to less than optimal performance. WT tires are optimized for a 35mm inner rim width but are proven to work over a range from 30-35mm inner rim widths, depending on the rider’s preference. - Tubeless Ready (TL): Tubeless ready tires provide the rider with many benefits: the ability to run lower air pressures, which improves traction; lower rolling resistance when compared to a tube-type tire; and less chance of flatting because there is no tube. Tubeless ready tires are denoted by the letters “TR” on the sidewall. Tubeless ready tires must be mounted to tubeless compatible rims and require the use of a liquid sealant to maintain pressure. Liquid sealants have the added benefit of sealing small punctures. Be sure to check your sealant regularly and refresh as needed as it will dry out over time.
