Power consumption

The power consumed by the construction mixer (see "Device") during operation. High power provides the device with high performance — such a model can easily cope with complex tasks, such as mixing a large volume of mixture at a time or while working with heavy fillers, such as crushed stone. On the other hand, high power affects the power consumption of the device, its weight, dimensions and cost. It makes little sense to purchase a powerful model if you select a tool for domestic use from time to time.

Rotation speed

The rotation speed of the nozzle or mixing container provided by a plaster mixers. High rotation speed devices work best with paints, varnishes and glues. Low rotation speed models do a good job of preparing thick mixtures. Many modern plaster mixers and mixer-drills support the ability to adjust the speed (see "Features"), which allows user to choose the most optimal mode for a particular mixture. Powerful tools especially need a rotation under heavy load support system.

Max. torque

The higher the torque, the better the tool handles viscous masses, where special force is required to turn the mixing nozzle. It is measured in Newtons per metre (N/m). Note that with an increase in the speed of rotation (see "Number of revolutions"), the torque decreases, and vice versa.

Reverse

Type of reverse provided in the design of the tool.

Reverse allows you to switch the direction of rotation of the nozzle. The type of switch responsible for this function is also indicated here. There are sliders, flags, and on the start button. Here is a detailed description of each of these varieties:

- Slider. The switch is in the form of a slider with two opposite positions. As a rule, it moves in the “back and forth” direction relative to the tool chuck - this format is considered the most practical. The sliders are quite simple and at the same time convenient and visual. That is why they are the most popular option nowadays.

— Flag. A switch in the form of a flag, usually installed above the start button and flipped left and right. One of the advantages of a checkbox is that it is right at hand and can be switched with virtually no unnecessary movements (which is not always possible with a slider).

- On the start button. Reverse switch combined with the start button. Such a combination button is usually made in the form of a “rocker”, and the direction of rotation depends on which side of the rocker the customer pressed; The same press immediately starts the engine. This design allows you to easily and quickly change the direction of rotation - for this you do not need to be distracted by individual switches, just move your finger slightly and press the other half of the start button.
...
— There is no reverse. In models without a reverse function, you will have to use special right- and left-handed whisks to mix solutions. Nozzles of the first type are intended for the preparation of thick cement and plaster mixtures, of the second order - for mixing substances with a low degree of viscosity. Mixers with reverse do not have such strict requirements for twisting the spiral in the working nozzle, since the direction of rotation of their shaft can be easily changed.

Max. wood drilling diameter

Refers to models that the user can also use as a conventional drill for drilling wood or metal. The parameter characterizes the largest diameter of holes that can be made using a tool. Here it should be taken into account that some modern mixers allow you to install drills of a much larger diameter than indicated by the manufacturer, and, theoretically, make a larger hole. But the larger the diameter, the higher the resistance of the material and, accordingly, the power of the device should be large. Using the tool on off-design loads is fraught with breakdowns.

Functions

Soft start. This function allows you to avoid a sharp start of the engine at the beginning of work, which, on the one hand, allows you to avoid overloads on the power supply network, and on the other hand, splashing of building mixtures.

Speed controller. The ability to adjust the speed of rotation of the nozzle of the working tool will be very useful for working with mixtures of different consistency. As you know, for effective mixing of liquid materials, a high speed is required, and for viscous materials, a lower speed, but a higher torque.

Maintain momentum. With the help of special sensors, the speed control system monitors changes in load and, depending on this, increases or decreases the speed of the nozzle, thus maintaining the speed set by the user, regardless of the load. This ensures more efficient and better mixing and extends the life of the device.

Power button lock. Locking the power button when the tool is off allows you to avoid accidental start in abnormal mode, which increases the safety of the device. And vice versa: locking when the tool is on eliminates the need to constantly keep your finger on the power button, which is very convenient, especially during long work.

Electronic engine protection. The system provides automatic shut...down of the engine in case of overheating, jamming of the nozzle, or simply in case of a critical increase in load, which helps to avoid tool failure and extend its service life.

Brushless motor. The presence of a brushless (brushless) motor in an electric tool. Such motors are noticeably superior to traditional collector motors in terms of efficiency, which can significantly reduce energy consumption without sacrificing power; this is especially important for cordless tools (see "Power Source"), where this feature is predominantly found. In addition, brushless motors are quieter and produce virtually no sparks during operation, making them perfect for working in high fire hazard environments. Their main disadvantages are traditional — the complexity of the design and high price.

In box

— Charger. A device for charging the batteries used in the instrument with the appropriate power supply. For models supplied with such a device, the specefications may specify the charger model. This information can be useful not only for finding a spare or replacement charger, but also in case when there are other battery tools and/or batteries for them in the household. The fact is that many manufacturers nowadays use universal batteries compatible with a whole set of tools from the same brand; so, for example, a charger for a mixer may be quite suitable for a battery grinder from the same manufacturer.
On the other hand, a lot of modern battery tools are supplied without a charger at all. This option will be optimal, first of all, if a compatible charger is already available, and there is simply no need to overpay for a second device. In addition, the lack of a charger will be appreciated by those who want to choose this accessory separately, without relying on the manufacturer's decision.

D-shaped handle. An additional handle in the shape of the letter D is provided for in the design of the device. It is found mainly in small and relatively light mixer drills, which can be used to create holes in wood or metal. Allows user to fix the position of the tool more firmly during operation.

Hand protection. A small, usually metal frame is provided around the handle of the tool, wh...ich helps to avoids damage to the user's hands during operation. It is used mainly in powerful, performant construction mixers. It is not found in small drill mixers, since it is practically useless there.

Mixing attachment. The tool is initially equipped with a mixing attachment. Its availability, on the one hand, allows you to get to work immediately after purchase, instead of looking for and buying an attachment separately, and on the other — not to worry about the compatibility of the tool and the attachment.

Mixing container. The equipment of this tool initially provides a special container for mixing building mortar and other mixtures. Usually we are talking about professional stationary mixers, primarily designed to perform large-scale construction work.

Case/pouch. Some construction mixers are equipped with special cases or covers for the convenience of storing and carrying both the device itself and its components, such as attachments or a key.

Note that the above list is not complete — other additional items may be supplied with modern tools

Weight

This refers to the weight of a fully assembled and ready-to-use construction mixer or drill mixer. What you need to pay attention to here is that the small weight of the device is not always its advantage. On the one hand, during operation, the tool has to be kept on weight, most often in a vertical position, which is very tiring. But on the other hand, heavy models are less susceptible to vibration, it is easier to fix them in one position.
