Glossary

Design

- Direct. Straight body without any curved handles like many grinders. In the vast majority, compact models of electric scissors with a palm around the body have such a design.

- Pistol. This arrangement assumes the presence of a pistol grip located at an angle to the body of the tool. The handle allows you to comfortably hold the device during operation.

- With a handle. Scissors with a solid stationary handle for ease of work and carrying the tool. Often in such models, a trigger mechanism for turning on knives is provided.

Max. aluminium thickness 200 N/mm²

The thickness of the cut at the strength characteristics of aluminium is 200 N/mm². The standard thickness of such metals is 2.3-3 mm.

Max. steel thickness 400 N/mm²

The cutting depth of steel with strength characteristics of 400 N/mm² often ranges from 1.5 to 2.5 mm. As the value of N/mm² increases, the depth of cut for the same model of electric scissors decreases.

Features

Blocking of inclusion. The ability to lock the power button in the pressed position. This function is very convenient in situations where the tool has to be used for a long time without interruption in work: it is easier to fix the start button in the on position than to keep it pressed all the time, additionally straining the finger on the working hand. The lock is turned off, as a rule, in the simplest way - for example, by briefly pressing the same start button.

- Brushless motor. The brushless design motor in electric scissors is considered to be more advanced than traditional brushed motors. Such units are more economical in terms of energy consumption, they are less noisy and do not spark, which is important when using the tool in conditions of increased fire hazard.

- Swivel head. The presence of a swivel head in the design of the scissors allows you to change the position of the tool in relation to the workpiece for greater ease of cutting. This may be required for cutting already installed sheets of material in hard to reach places.

- Backlight. Built-in lantern to illuminate the work area. Note that the backlight is useful not only at dusk or darkness, but also in normal lighting - it will come in handy when working in shaded areas.

In box

- Charger. Battery charger as standard with cordless scissors. In itself, its presence eliminates the need to look for and buy a "charger" separately. At the same time, the charger is optimally suited to the "native" battery and can be compatible with other suitable batteries of the corresponding platform.

- Protective plate. Shield plate to protect the master's hands from chips. It is often installed parallel to the straight body of the sheet metal shears near the cutting tool.

- Replaceable blade. A replaceable blade is included in the tool delivery set, which implies the possibility of replacing the executive body with a spare or another one in size to change the thickness of the cut or work with materials of different density.

- Additional handle. Additional handle in the design or delivery set of the tool (it can be either built-in or removable). This attachment makes it easier to hold the scissors with two hands, which is important when cutting hard materials that require significant force, or in delicate work, where precision and maximum control are important.

- Bracket (clip). Special clip for attaching the tool to a belt, clothing, rope or even a pipe. The bracket provides additional convenience when working in hard-to-reach places and at heights - the operator will always have the scissors at...hand, and during the pause, the tool can not be placed on the floor.

- Case (bag). Case-case or soft bag for storing and carrying the tool together with the included accessories. Such products are much more convenient than improvised packaging, since they were originally designed for the design features of a particular model of electric scissors.

Battery in set

Presence in a regular complete set of electroscissors of the accumulator for independent food. Note that not all cordless models come with a battery. This configuration assumes that the customer himself will purchase batteries at his discretion or the household already has a suitable battery. This is very common, as many well-known manufacturers use universal batteries suitable for a wide range of branded power tools.

Battery platform

A single battery platform is used to combine various power tools of one or more brands into one line. Units on the same platform use interchangeable batteries and chargers, eliminating the need to select a battery for each individual power tool model. One battery as a replacement can be used in various devices as needed.

Battery voltage

Operating voltage of the battery in electric scissors with the corresponding type of power supply. As usual, the more powerful the tool, the higher the battery voltage. At the same time, this parameter is usually selected with the expectation of optimal compliance with the characteristics of a particular model. In practice, voltage data may be required when looking for a spare or additional battery for a tool.

Battery capacity

The capacity of the battery supplied with the electric scissors of the corresponding type. The indicator is measured in ampere-hours: 1 Ah is the capacity at which the battery can deliver a current of 1 A for 1 hour.

Theoretically, the higher the capacity, the longer the tool can work without recharging or changing the battery. However, in practice, things are not so clear cut. Firstly, the actual autonomy depends not only on the characteristics of the battery, but also on the power consumption of the tool, which is determined by the power of the engine. Secondly, batteries with the same nominal voltage can be compared in terms of capacity in ampere-hours. To assess the actual autonomy, it is better to pay attention to the indicated operating time of the electric scissors.
