Anker is a world leader in charging technology, which is why their new TWS SoundCore Life Dot2 earphones have a record high battery life. However, this is not all that they are able to surprise.
Design and ergonomics
The headphones come in a fairly large (relative to themselves) box in a light blue design. There are two compartments inside. One contains a USB Type C charging cable, 4 pairs of additional silicone eartips of different sizes and 2 pairs of external AirWings eartips of various shapes, the other contains a case with headphones. Everything is made in black, the manufacturer does not offer other options for this model. The headphones are claimed protection according to the IPX5 standard, which stands for “Protection against water jets”, that is, they are not afraid of heavy sweat or even heavy rain. For active sports, what you need.
Life Dot2 sit comfortably — tightly, but at the same time they do not press. This is facilitated by the AirWings' flexible silicone construction, which partially deflates to conform to the shape and size of your ears. But if you have small ones, the headphones will stick out, giving your head a somewhat comical look. Another disadvantage is that AirWings do not adhere very tightly to the body, so you need to carefully remove the headphones from your ears so that the pads do not fall off.
battery life
The case has an ergonomic form factor, but it will be inconvenient to carry it in your pants pocket. Large. However, this was predictable, since it has a record-breaking 2600 mAh battery. Considering the battery capacity of the headphones themselves is 85 mAh each, it is easy to calculate that they can be charged 10-12 times, taking into account the self-discharge of the case. With the claimed battery life up to 8 hours, we get 100 hours of battery life with a case, which, in fact, the manufacturer claims in the specifications. That is, almost a month of use. In addition, there is a fast charge (1.5 hours of work in 10 minutes), which almost completely eliminates the situation when you are left without music and communication. And although in fairness, 100 hours of Life Dot2 still do not stretch, a maximum of 70 – 80, it's still very cool.
Control
Pleased with the control buttons. They do not require strong pressing, but you won’t be able to accidentally perform any action, which is what many TWS with sensors sin. At the same time, the buttons do not protrude beyond the body, and you won’t be able to press them with a headdress either.
Control capabilities can be studied in the instructions or a proprietary application, but in principle everything is standard: play / pause, rewind / rewind tracks, manage calls and call voice assistants. But the volume will have to be adjusted on the smartphone.
Connecting headphones is very simple, thanks to the "Push and go" function. Just take them out of the case and they will automatically turn on and pair with the last connected device.
Soundproofing
The Life Dot2 doesn't have active noise cancellation, but the passive isolation does an excellent job. External sounds are cut off by 80%, leaving a slight effect of presence. By the way, Anker has exactly the same model with ANC for $40 more. But it also has microphone noise cancellation, which is not found in regular Life Dot2. And in vain, as the quality of the headset leaves much to be desired.
sound
But the sound in the headphones is excellent. 8mm dynamic drivers provide V-shaped equalization with pronounced bass, treble and noticeable mid-range sag. Due to this setting, the compositions sound dynamic, clear and accentuated, we would even say that they are no worse than the more expensive TWS like Bose SoundSport Wireless Free.
The ANKER SoundCore Life Dot2 are very good sports headphones, especially for the $60 price tag. Record-breaking battery life and sounding at the level of top-end TWS, of course, will be the decisive factors for many to buy them. Well, everyone has flaws.
