Inexpensive Japanese cordless circular

The Ryobi R18CS-0 is a compact, lightweight and handy handheld circular. It weighs only 2.4 kg (without batteries) and is perfectly balanced due to the fact that (unlike other cordless circular saws) it does not have a battery mounted on the back, but on the side. Therefore, the centre of gravity falls just on the handle and trigger. This weight distribution provides excellent manoeuvrability, which greatly facilitates the work.

Design features

The saw has a large angle of inclination of the sole (56 °) and a normal cutting depth (52 mm) — it is quite enough for most typical tasks. But users note that it is better to limit yourself to working with materials up to 25 mm thick (that is, cutting ordinary lining, laminate, thin boards, plywood, fiberboard and chipboard), because when sawing thicker wood (especially raw) speed drops noticeably. The manufacturer himself positions this circular saw as a tool for working with sheet lumber.

A feature of the saw that cannot be overlooked is the location of the saw blade. It is on the left (and not on the right, like most other manual circulars). This design has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is the fact that during operation the cut line is better visible (it is very convenient to make long cuts according to the markup). The disadvantages include unusualness, as well as some difficulties that arise for right-handers when cutting narrow strips (because the sole does not fully rest on the right side of the sawn off part, but, as it were, “hangs in the air”). But, since the saw is light and suitable for working on weight, this should not be too much of a hindrance while using the tool.

A simple circular for the construction of a roof or installation of trim

The inexpensive Ryobi R18CS-0 saw will be a good "helper" and substitute for a large network circular. Due to its lightness and mobility, it is convenient to use it when performing roofing and finishing works related to cutting numerous sheet materials, planks and boards directly at the place of their installation.

The device is sold without batteries, which will need to be purchased separately. Batteries with a capacity of 1.3 Ah to 5 Ah are suitable for the saw. The same batteries are also suitable for other types of Ryobi cordless tools: from angle grinders and screwdrivers to the Ryobi ONE + R18PV-0 vacuum cleaner that connects to this saw.
