Comfortable closed-back wireless on-ear headphones with built-in microphone and cable connection. They differ from similar models from other manufacturers by their discreet exterior design, which goes well with clothes of any style, and impressive battery life (up to 40 hours), which is provided by a capacious built-in lithium-ion battery. They have a durable and practical folding design that easily adapts to the anatomical features of the user's head.
The manufacturer is positioned as a product of the middle price category, intended for a wide range of consumers who prefer reliable and ergonomic branded personal acoustics. The Nokia E1200 headphones will be especially useful for users who often make long trips, during which charging is difficult or impossible. Equipped with high-quality dynamic drivers with a diameter of 40 mm with neodymium magnets, which guarantee high-quality and accurate reproduction of tracks of all popular musical genres (there is a noticeable bass accent). They connect without problems to any modern models of smartphones, tablets or laptops using the Bluetooth 5.0 wireless interface (at a distance of up to 10 m).

After Nokia bought out the Chinese concern HMD Global, the brand seems to be gradually returning to its former glory, despite the skepticism of former fans. Yes, “Nokia is not the same anymore”, now it produces not only smartphones, but also tablets, Bluetooth headphones, media players and even TVs. Nokia Essential 1200 are full-size headphones with a combined connection that will please not only with an affordable price ($65), but also with other advantages.
Design and ergonomics
The model is made in the best traditions of the brand: a strict minimalistic design, a body made of matte plastic in soothing colours (white, black, blue), bowls reinforced with anodized aluminium and soft leatherette ear cushions in colour. This is where the advantages of the design end and the disadvantages begin.
The ear pads are not too big, so there is a risk that they will not fully wrap around the ear and press, causing noticeable discomfort. The bowls are not swivel, they just fold inward, while the fasteners are quite fragile, and, according to some users, quickly break. The control buttons are pressed with such a loud clatter that you can hear it even in the earpiece. And here, support for Google and Siri voice assistants will come in handy, which will make management more comfortable.
In short, the ergonomics are excellent, which in general is traditional for Nokia. Therefore, we were much more interested in sound and battery life, and here the E1200 did not let us down.
Sound
The 40mm dynamic drivers deliver highly detailed sound, allowing you to hear every detail of the composition. Everything is calibrated very well. The upper frequencies are bright and not cut off, the mids are tight, and the bass is assertive and resilient, and also adjustable. That is, if desired, the low-frequency range can be raised using a special button.
But the built-in microphone was very mediocre. Of course, you can talk on it, but it is desirable that it be quiet and without wind around, otherwise the interlocutor will have to ask you several times.
battery life
A capacious battery is another feature that we expected from these headphones and were not mistaken. The manufacturer claims up to 40 hours of battery life, but, as you understand, at an average volume, which is objectively not enough on a busy street or in transport. We set the level to 70% and used the headphones quite actively for 5 days, after which the red indicator on the bowl flashed and they turned off. It took 3 hours to charge, but even here Nokia did not surprise. With fast charging, its low-cost devices are not particularly friendly. But could it then at least put a USB-C connector instead of microUSB?
And yet, in general, we can say that Nokia's headphones turned out to be quite good. Their advantages are undeniable, and their disadvantages are conditional. After all, it's impossible to please everyone.
