One of MSI's most affordable full-size motherboards based on 2019's top AMD X570 chipset. It is positioned as a model of the upper part of the middle price category, designed to create a performant universal home and gaming configurations. It is quite capable of becoming the basis of an entry-level or mid-level workstation. The manufacturer guarantees full compatibility with second and third generation Ryzen 3/5/7/9 CPUs with Matisse, Picasso or Pinnacle Ridge microarchitecture.
Unlike AMD AM4 motherboards based on X470 chipset, MSI X570-A PRO motherboard supports the new version of the high-speed PCI-E Gen4.0 system interface, which can double the data transfer speed with M.2 SSDs. For stable operation under serious computing loads, it is equipped with a 10-phase CPU VRM power subsystem and active cooling of the chipset, which switches to passive mode when idle. It supports overclocking of the CPU and DDR4 RAM, the volume of which can reach an impressive 128 GB. The board works with two M.2 SSD drives (PCI-E 3.0/4.0 4x) and six SATA3 devices. High-quality 8-channel sound is provided by the Realtek S1220 audio codec with an improved analogue path. To work in a Gigabit Ethernet network, there is a Realtek RTL8111H adapter.

Justified savings
MSI X570-A Pro is one of the most affordable full-size ATX motherboards based on the new flagship AMD X570 chipset in east european retail. Fortunately, the savings affected not so much functionality as decorative elements. Compared to the slightly more expensive MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus, the backlight of the PCB itself, the interface panel shroud, and the M.2 slot heatsink have been eliminated.
The fastest drives
And, perhaps, only the M.2 radical can be called at least some tangible loss. Fortunately, many modern SSDs are equipped with their own cooler. It is especially important for flagship PCI-E 3.0 x4 SSDs and the latest PCI-E 4.0. Let me remind you that at the moment only Ryzen 3000 Matisse processors and motherboards based on the X570 chipset support the PCI-E 4.0 bus. One of the two M.2 slots on the MSI X570-A Pro motherboard just supports PCI-E 4.0. A couple of metal-reinforced PCI-E 4.0 slots (x16 + x4) allows you to connect even the latest video cards. AMD CrossFire bundles are supported, but not NVIDIA SLI.
Overclocking RAM
And the AM4 platform update brought support for faster RAM. So, MSI X570-A Pro, depending on the success of the memory controller in a particular instance of the processor, is able to run DDR4 memory at a frequency of up to 4400 MHz. For the past generation of processors and AMD motherboards, this was also a close unattainable figure.
Little Carlson
The MSI X570-A Pro also has a fan, which is obligatory for the hot X570 chipset. Which, however, is not strange, because the management of high-speed PCI-E 4.0 and USB 3.2 Gen 2 buses requires a lot of electricity. Fortunately, MSI engineers, unlike some other brands, were not too lazy to set up a smart speed control algorithm to ensure acoustic comfort. In an idle PC, the turntable of the chipset is generally completely turned off.
