Light as a feather
American EDC knife Leatherman Skeletool KB is a very light model of everyday cutting tool for all occasions. The knife weighs only 37 g, when folded it has a length of 87 mm, and when unfolded — 149 mm. The clip-point blade with a plain cutting edge is made from the favorite material of American knife makers — 420HC martensitic stainless steel. After cryogenic heat treatment, the blade acquires a hardness of about 55 HRC and properties close to 440A steel. Additional hardness and wear resistance of the blade is provided by proprietary DLC diamond coating technology. The blade is not very long (66 mm) and has a small thickness in the butt, which is why this knife is not designed for extreme loads.
Lanyard hole in butt plate
The composite design of the 6061-T6 anodized aluminium handle with different profiles on the front and back is ambiguous. It is painted black and has a shallow notch under the fingers for a firm hold in the hand. The presence of a semi-open side plate on one side and a shaped hole on the blade provides a convenient one-handed opening of the knife with subsequent blocking with a Liner Lock. Closer to the butt at the base of the blade, as well as on the edge of the descent, there are 3 round holes of different diameters, which do not carry a semantic load and serve only as decoration. In the "tail" of the handle there is a hole for threading the strap.
Clip with bottle opener
A long spring chrome clip for carrying is attached to the handle with 3 screws and is made integral with the bottle opener, and so that the protrusion of the bottle key does not go unnoticed, a symbol stamped on the surface indicates its purpose. The knife cannot be called particularly convenient due to the intricate design of the handle and the large protruding clip, but there are no complaints about the materials and excellent assembly without backlash. And if nothing prevents the clip from being removed, then nothing can be done about the geometry of the handle. The knife, made at the factory in the USA, has an excellent sharpening out of the box, and the manufacturer gives a proprietary 25-year warranty on this model.
