Leica Optics
In terms of form factor, the Insta360 Luna Ultra resembles the robot “WALL-E” from the animated film of the same name. The resemblance is especially noticeable in the design of the “head,” which houses two lens eyes featuring optics from the prestigious German brand Leica. The main Leica Summicron lens offers a 20 mm equivalent focal length, while the secondary lens provides 60 mm in full-frame equivalent.
Two “Eyes”
Light through the camera’s main lens reaches a physically sized 1” sensor. Behind the secondary optics is a slightly smaller 1/1.3” sensor. The second “eye” is responsible for 3x optical zoom. The camera also supports hybrid zoom up to 6x and digital zoom up to 12x.
High-Resolution Video
The Insta360 Luna Ultra records video at a maximum resolution of 8K (7680x4320 pixels). The camera features proprietary Leica Natural, Vivid, and Chrome profiles, cinematic filters, and support for 10-bit I-Log with a dynamic range of up to 14 stops. In 4K resolution, recording is available at up to 120 fps. In addition, the model is equipped with mechanical and electronic stabilization, an AI object-tracking system, integrated timecode, and built-in wind protection for higher-quality audio recording. The camera is well suited for everyday vlogs, travel, and other similar shooting scenarios.
