The Canon Speedlite 600 EX RT is Canon's first flash with built-in wireless radio sync. And its second generation is one of the fastest solutions in the top-segment flash family, which performs equally well both in the reportage genre of photography and in thoughtful staged shooting.

Wealth of features

Outwardly, the second version of the flash has practically no visual differences from its predecessor. As, however, in terms of the wealth of functions — the model has full TTL support and an advanced remote control system via optical and radio channels, both as a slave and as a master flash. With its help, you can even control entire groups of other flash units with the ability to select the operating mode for each of the bundles separately.

Any conditions

The Canon Speedlite 600 EX II-RT has a guide number of 60, and its light output can range from 20mm wide-angle to 200mm telephoto. Such a wide spread allows you to adjust the light to different shooting conditions, which the flash is very good at doing in automatic mode. In some cases, an additional device also comes to the aid of the photographer — an orange overlay on the flash head, with which it is possible to equalize the colour temperature in the picture when shooting in rooms with warm light sources (for example, incandescent lamps).

Strengths

The list of strengths of the model continues with support for high-speed synchronization, fast and silent recharging, low power consumption, as well as dust and water protection of the case, which allows you to use the flash to the fullest in reportage shooting. Actually, that's why the price tag of the Canon Speedlite 600 EX II-RT cannot boast of being democratic. So if photography is not your main income, it makes sense to look at the Canon Speedlite 430 EX III-RT — at a cost of 1.5-2 times cheaper, it offers most of the functions supported by the older model.
