Waterproof
— the presence of water resistance in the device and its level according to the IP standard. This feature typically means that the device can withstand exposure to rain at a minimum and often offers more advanced protection, including temporary submersion in water. The parameter is denoted by the letters IP followed by two numerical symbols (e.g., IP54, IP67). The numbers represent the specific degree of protection: the first number indicates protection against foreign objects and dust (with a maximum value of 6), and the second number indicates protection against water (with a maximum value of 8). The highest level of protection according to this standard is IP68, which means complete impermeability.
Instead of one of the digits, a letter X may be used, indicating that certification for that particular parameter has not been conducted. For example, a device with an IPX8 rating has a water resistance level of 8 but has not been tested for dust protection. However, a high level of water resistance generally implies good dust resistance as well.
