Pool coagulants
— chemicals that provide adhesion of small particles of pollution into larger ones. By increasing the particle size, the efficiency of the filter increases: if small contaminants can pass through it freely, then large ones are retained by the filter elements.
In their action, coagulants are similar to another type of pool chemistry — flocculants (see the relevant paragraph). However, there is a certain difference between them: in particular, coagulants give smaller particles, but can be used without stopping the filtration system. At the same time, sometimes the term "coagulant" actually means a flocculant, so the specifics of the use of such agents in each specific case must be clarified separately.
