In a separate type of metal halide lamps, the luminous flux is generated by adding metal halides to the mercury vapor burner. Sodium or scandium iodide are used here as metal halides (special emitting additives). While maintaining the main advantage of classic lamps – high-quality colour reproduction – it is possible to achieve a number of advantages over them: in particular, halogen lamps are more durable and can be produced in fairly miniature sizes, which is indispensable for spotlights, built-in systems, etc. On the other hand, their bulbs can get quite hot, and the energy consumption of such light bulbs is quite high.Show
