In the case of revolvers chambered for Flaubert, the advantages of smooth barrels are low cost, as well as ease of maintenance — a flat surface is cleaned with a minimum of effort. At the same time, the accuracy of shooting from such weapons is somewhat lower than from rifled ones, especially at long distances; this is due to the fact that the bullet does not spin in the barrel and there is no stabilization.
