Construction knives
Mounting knives
— specialized knives designed for use in construction and installation work. As a synonym for the term "assembly knife", the name "electrician's knife" is often used, but this is not entirely true — electrician's knives are just one of the varieties of such a tool. Another variety is universal tools, usually equipped with retractable segmented blades, as in stationery paper cutters. By breaking off the worn part of such a blade, you can “renew” it, restoring its working capacity. Occasionally there are specialized "painting" knives, but they are not widely used — for painting work, universal knives are usually quite suitable. As for the electrician's knives, an almost obligatory part of such a tool is a dielectric handle that provides blade insulation. However, not all such models are allowed to work under voltage, this point needs to be specified separately. The blade itself can have a different shape, size and purpose. So, in some knives it is made very short for the convenience of working in cramped conditions; such blades are well suited for stripping wires. In other models, the blade has a characteristic curved "beak" with a heel — a small platform at the end; such a tool allows you to remove the outer insulation from multi-core cables without damaging the coating of individual cores. There are other design options, in many respects the choice of an electrician's knife depends on the personal preferences of the user.
