This category includes mallets, the head of which is made of wood. This is a classic material that has been used since the appearance of mallets as an instrument. It is noticeably harder than another popular material for mallets — rubber, which is why such tools are poorly suited for delicate work. But they have proven themselves in tasks where a hard, large, but at the same time not too heavy hammer is required — in particular, the same roofing work. However wood is somewhat inferior in hardness to metal, but it makes no sense to make mallets from metal: such a hammer will already be a sledgehammer.
