Impact screwdrivers
Impact screwdriver
— initially, the term "shock" means the so-called impact screwdrivers, however, many manufacturers use this name for traditional heavy-duty screwdrivers.A distinctive feature of rotary impact screwdrivers is a thick massive handle with a heel for hitting with a hammer at the end. The principle of operation of such a tool is as follows: the tip is inserted into the fastener, after which the user hits the site with a hammer, and the impact energy is partially converted into rotation of the tip. The design provides a switch that allows you to change the direction of rotation — that is, in this way you can work both for unscrewing and for twisting. In the first case, the impact method of work is useful in order to cope with old, stuck fasteners, which are “too tough” for an ordinary screwdriver; and twisting with impact allows you to achieve a very strong and secure fastening, unattainable with a conventional screwdriver.
As for the second variety, such tools are practically indistinguishable from ordinary screwdrivers — the only thing that they are made of high-strength materials, and the rod passes through to the very end of the handle, which allows you to endure blows with a hammer. When working with a hammer, such a screwdriver is in many ways similar to a rotary impact screwdriver, except that the user must rotate it himself. Also note that such a tool can be useful when the slot is dirty, where the screwdriver has to be literally driven in.
