Monopods with ball head
Ball head
— ball-mounted head: the rod on which the smartphone or camera is attached ends with a ball, which is fixed in a special clip. The clamp is usually made adjustable, to turn the head it needs to be loosened, and to fix it, it needs to be clamped as much as possible. And the specific degree of freedom of such a head can be different: most often it is able to rotate around its axis and deviate in any direction by an angle of about 45 °, and in one direction — up to 90 ° (to turn the camera towards the user), however, there are also more specific options.Anyway, ball heads are cheaper and simpler in design than another popular variety — 2D-heads, which have a separate mechanism for turning along each of the two axes. In addition, the ball mount can be freely rotated in two axes at the same time (this is difficult in 2D models). On the other hand, in such a mount it is more difficult to achieve rotation strictly along one axis — this can be important in some situations (in particular, when using a selfie stick in the format of a traditional tripod). In addition, the ball clamp is somewhat less reliable than the 2D head.
