Tool stands
— various tripods — fixtures for floor, less often desktop, instrument installation
The specific purpose and, accordingly, the specifics of such structures may be different. So, nowadays desktop tripods for engravers are quite common, they are used when working with a flexible shaft: in such work, hanging a tool on a tripod is more convenient and safer than keeping it on a table or looking for an impromptu support. Floor tripods are used, in particular, for levels, including laser levels. There are also desktop models for fixing indicator heads and other measuring instruments, and other, more specific types of tripods.
It is also worth mentioning that instrument stands (see the relevant paragraph) are sometimes also referred to as tripods and are included in this category. This is not entirely true, although partly justified: the racks are also designed for stable stationary placement of the tool, which in the original design does not provide such an installation.
