— call panels in which cameras are able to shoot video using the H.265 codec.Recall that the codec is a compression technology that allows you to reduce the volume of video files (without the use of such technologies, the footage would take up an unreasonably large amount of space). For the whole system to work properly, the intercom (or other “receiving” device) must support the same codec as the calling panel camera. Specifically, H.265 is one of the newest (for 2021) and advanced video compression standards. In terms of efficiency, it is almost twice as efficient as the previous H.264 — that is, video recorded using H.265, with the same quality, will have almost half the volume. Among other things, this has a positive effect on the reliability of video signal transmission — especially with a low channel bandwidth. The reverse side of these advantages is rather high hardware requirements; It is for call panels that this moment often turns out to be critical, so there are still few models with H.265 support on the market, and they are quite expensive. However, in the near future it is quite possible to expect a change in the situation.
Note also that H.265 is not necessarily the only codec supported — it can be combined with the simpler and older H.264. This may be useful in terms of compatibility with other components of the intercom system.
