Stone extruders
— devices for removing pits from cherries, apricots, plums, olives and other similar berries and fruits. Note that most of these models are specialized for a specific product (for example, cherries) or for similar products (for example, plums and apricots); the main difference is in the size of the working part. Anyway, using such a tool is easier and more convenient than removing the seeds manually: the removal takes place literally in one motion, and the peeled berry looks neat.
The simplest bone squeezer is a kind of tongs, at one end of which there is a recess with a hole, at the other — a special protrusion. The berry is placed in the recess, and when the tongs are compressed, the protrusion cuts through the peel and squeezes the stone through the hole. More advanced tools may be equipped with a berry tray and a container for the extracted stones; the principle of operation in them is similar, however, the protrusion is not on the tongs, but at the end of a special piston. Such designs are more convenient, but take up more space.
