Sieve
Sieve
— a kitchen appliance based on a fine mesh, usually metal. There are two popular sieve design options: "pans", in which a flat mesh is stretched instead of a bottom, and "ladles", where a convex mesh is fixed to a metal hoop and replaces both the bottom and walls. However, both of these varieties have the same application: they are used to separate large and small particles in bulk products, as well as to separate solid insoluble products from liquids. One of the most famous uses of the sieve is to sift flour before kneading dough; it is also possible to sift various cereals with a small grain size. As for filtering liquids, using a sieve, for example, you can separate tea or other broth from “grass”, compote from pieces of fruits and berries, and even use such a device similar to a colander — in particular, when cooking pasta. At the same time, in some situations, the sieve may be more effective due to the fact that the mesh cells are usually smaller than the openings of a classic colander. There are other ways to use sieves — washing berries, mushrooms and other products under running water, cooking cottage cheese, etc.
