GPS navigators with video recorders
Built-in dashcam
— the built-in video recorder in the navigator.A DVR can be described as a small video camera with a built-in recorder and additional features, usually used to record traffic conditions. Accordingly, this function is typical mainly for car navigators (see "Scope"). The "peephole" of the camera can be built into the body of the navigator or made as a separate device; anyway, most often it is mounted in the "forward" direction (for example, on a windscreen or a torpedo). The material captured by the DVR is used primarily as an evidence base in case of disputes, for example, as a result of an accident — the presence of video footage in many cases greatly simplifies the "debriefing". In addition to the video itself, the registrar can also capture a number of additional parameters received from the navigator, such as the location of the car, its speed and direction of movement.
It is worth noting that many modern navigators have built-in digital cameras. However, to work in the DVR mode, you also need some additional functionality; therefore, the presence of a camera in itself does not mean support for this mode.
