Thyristor based AVRs
Thyristor
— stabilizers built on the basis of thyristors — semiconductor devices that work similarly to relays. However, unlike classical relays, thyristors do not create noise during operation, they tolerate even fairly high currents and sudden voltage drops, and the adjustment accuracy in such circuits is higher. However, they are not without drawbacks. The most serious of these is the high heat dissipation, due to which such stabilizers have to be equipped with complex, expensive and bulky active cooling systems. And in general, the cost of thyristor devices is quite high.No offers found
