— traditional touring forks usually have a foldable handle that makes the unit more compact when not in use and easier to carry. There are other options as well, such as full-size one-piece forks made of super-light alloys; and sometimes even barbecue appliances are included in this category.

Note that experienced tourists consider a spoon and a knife to be the most necessary devices; the fork, on the other hand, has a relatively narrow specialization and in many cases you can do without it. Therefore, there are relatively few tourist forks in their pure form — ordinary spoons are more popular, as well as combined spoons and forks (see the relevant paragraphs).
