Descalers
Descaling
— means for dealing with scale — insoluble deposits on the heaters of electric kettles and coffee makers, the inner walls of conventional kettles, heating elements of washing machines and dishwashers, etc. Such deposits are formed due to the content of certain salts in water, which, when heated, react with each other, turning from soluble to insoluble; The harder the water, the more salts it contains. Scale impairs the efficiency of heaters and can lead to their premature failure, besides, it can exfoliate and clog filters, and with drinking water it can also enter the human body, which is also undesirable.Descaling products work on the same principle: they turn the sediment back into soluble salts. However, they may have a different composition and specialization (universal, for washing machines, for teapots and other utensils, etc.), so that the features of the application may vary. So, most often cleaning requires a special procedure, after which the remnants of the product must be thoroughly rinsed. However, for dishwashers, compositions can be produced that can be used directly during the operation of the device and are absolutely harmless to humans in the amount in which they fall on the washed dishes. There is also such a variety as “scale preventers” — usually for washing machines; they not only fight existing deposits, but also prevent their formation. However, for such a prevention, it is more reasonable to use water softeners — see the relevant paragraph. And for some compounds, additional functions are claimed, such as disinfection or rust removal.
