Thermocouple
— the presence of a thermocouple in the delivery set of the device. The thermocouple is a contact temperature sensor based on the thermoelectric effect. Structurally, such a sensor consists of two conductors made of different, specially selected materials; one pair of ends of such conductors is connected, the other is brought to the measuring device. When a temperature difference occurs between the free and connected ends, an electromotive force arises in the conductors, by the value of which the temperature is determined.
Thermocouples are somewhat less convenient than non-contact measurements: firstly, they require contact with the surface whose temperature is being measured, and secondly, when measuring, you need to wait until the sensor temperature equals the surface temperature. Nevertheless, such sensors have some important advantages: in particular, they provide high accuracy (often up to hundredths of a degree) and can operate over a very wide temperature range. Therefore, in some cases, the use of a thermocouple is more preferable than the non-contact method.
