Depth gauges
Depth gauge
— measuring instruments for high-precision determination of the depth of holes and grooves, the height of ledges, etc. Structurally, such devices are similar to calipers, but specialized depth gauges do not have jaws on the measuring rod. The end of the tool is the measuring element, which is inserted into the plane being measured. And the base of the frame of the device acts as an external stop. The accuracy of measurements using a depth gauge reaches tenths or even hundredths of a millimeter. This type of instrument can be either mechanical or digital — for more details, see “Operating Principle”.
