The SM-8 8-Inch 3-Way Powered Studio Monitor is designed for critical listening, mixing and production environments where accuracy, output and detail are essential. Featuring a 3-way coincident architecture, it combines an 8-inch woofer, a 4-inch midrange driver and a coaxial 1-inch metal dome tweeter to function as an acoustic point source, delivering a cohesive soundstage with precise imaging and reduced off-axis inconsistencies commonly found in 2-way designs. User-definable DSP controls allow each speaker to be calibrated to its environment with 8 bands of EQ, along with delay and trim adjustments, and multiple calibration profiles can be stored for different room setups or listening targets. The transducers are engineered for smooth response and low distortion, with a flux-stabilized woofer, a midrange optimized to serve as a waveguide for the tweeter and a specially designed metal dome tweeter that helps reduce ultrasonic resonances. With 300W of Class D amplification, frequency response down to 37 Hz (-10 dB) and up to 119 dB peak SPL, the SM-8 supports full-range monitoring at high output levels for larger rooms and demanding studio workflows. Part of the Santa Monica series, this monitor is built for professional stereo, surround and immersive audio applications, offering detailed spatial imaging and consistent performance across listening positions.
