Trick! I Pick Trick!
Why do we even offer the choice? Is it a threat? Are we saying “give us a treat or we’ll give you a trick?” Maybe it’s a choice for the homeowner. “Will you give us a treat or will you give us a trick?” Or maybe, and this is our favorite, it is both. The children trick the adults into thinking they’re hideous monsters, cute animals, or any number of other things, and the adults give them treats thinking that they are going to the neighborhood monsters. Yep, that accounts for all the variables.
We mean, if you were a mischievous monster masquerading as kid who wants a ton of candy, wouldn’t you then try to sneak in, perhaps with a costume of your own? We know we would. Even better if we could find a costume to fit our enormously bulbous head and freakishly long, gangly arms and legs.
A Perfect Treat
What’s that? You have the perfect costume for us? Well, we suppose if we could look like a giant candy corn monster with a burlap sack head on the outside, then we wouldn’t have to worry about being a giant candy corn monster with a burlap sack head on the inside. We wouldn’t necessarily need a treat if the costume was that perfect already!
Scary and Merry
Along with all that tricking and treating, you’ll definitely feel scary and merry as well. Not so much of either that you don’t fit in with the other monsters, but definitely enough to get that sweet rush of sugar-fueled fun.
