Did you know that the Smurfs started as a comic book? Seriously, it did. We usually can sniff these things out, but this fact almost slipped under our radar. Honestly, if you just look at the origin of Smurfette, you can kind of tell. For instance, she was created by the evil wizard Gargamel. His intentions were to sew discord among the Smurfs. It might have worked if the Smurfs were less evolved. Papa Smurf eventually talked some sense into his kin and Smurfette was ousted. Now, of course, after hanging out with the nicest creatures on the planet, she had some guilt about helping Gargamel. He was going to bring her back into the fold, but Papa Smurf did his magic thing and turned her into a real Smurf and she defected.
