The time of year for which the windscreen wiper is normally designed.
- All season. Wipers, theoretically usable at any time of the year. Almost all of them work normally in a relatively warm season, but suitability for winter conditions directly depends on the design features (for more details, see "Type").
-
Winter. Wipers positioned by the manufacturer as winter. Note that such positioning is often more of a manufacturer's marketing move than a real specialization: "winter" models may not differ in characteristics from all-season ones and work well in warm weather. However, good resistance to low temperatures is still a must for them. Yes, and specialized models, originally created for the harsh winter, may also be produced. Anyway, the features of winter wipers should be clarified separately.
Mounting type used by the wiper. Detailed data on the design and operation of different types of fasteners can be found in special sources. Here we note a few key points.
Firstly, many automakers use different fasteners in different car models, and even the same type of fasteners can have varieties (available in several sizes). Secondly, there are adapters between different types; however, they should only be used in the most extreme cases, since the effectiveness of the wipers is usually reduced with this installation. Thirdly, some wiper models are initially equipped with universal adapters; such mounts are more effective than third-party adapters, but are more difficult to install than “native” ones, and still do not provide the same high-quality work.
