Compatibility
Case compatibility with a specific mobile phone model — or, in the case of universal models, the absence of any specialization. Both options have their advantages and disadvantages.
Specialized variants are much better compatible with the corresponding mobile phones, as initially "tailored" for the features of a particular device: the shape and dimensions of the case, the location of connectors, buttons, cameras, etc. As a result, the cover provides protection without creating inconvenience for the user and without limiting his capabilities. And some types of cases (see "Type"), by definition, are made only specialized. At the same time, not all models of mobile phones are awarded such an "honor" as the release of a specialized case. And if your device is relatively inexpensive, the probability of not finding a case for it is quite high.
Note that it hardly makes sense to try to choose a specialized case based on the similarity of dimensions: firstly, very few devices match in size up to a millimetre, and secondly, even with such a coincidence, compatibility of connectors, cameras, etc. is not guaranteed at all due to lack of correspondence of cutouts for them and other structural elements of the phone. If the description indicates compatibility with several models at once, this means that the case is available in several modifications, for the corresponding devices.
Universal covers, in turn, are not limited by specific models and can be u...sed with any mobile phones that fit in size. Moreover, the size can coincide very approximately — the main thing is that the phone, on the one hand, fits inside, on the other hand, it is not too small and is not loose in the main compartment. At the same time, only cases intended for transporting a mobile phone are universal (bags and cases, see “Type”); the ability to use the phone without removing it from the case is the prerogative of specialized options.
Built-in stand
The presence of its own stand in the design of the case. It allows you to install the phone in an inclined position on any relatively flat surface (for example, a table). You should pay attention to this feature if you plan to frequently watch videos or use video communication, etc.; putting the phone in front of you is often more convenient than holding it in your hand.
The built-in stand allows you to put the device in a horizontal position, but there are options that allow you to give the device a vertical position.
Back cover
—
Matte. The matte surface doesn't "gather" fingerprints and other dirt. Additionally, a case with a matte surface will not slip in your hands, providing the ability to securely grip your smartphone. The matte surface has a wide range of materials, from metal and plastic to leather and textiles.
—
Glossy. The glossy surface has a brighter and more noticeable design. Glossy covers are based on durable and reliable materials, it can be either metal with plastic or polyurethane. But at the same time, the glossy surface requires regular maintenance, which consists in wiping the cover from fingerprints etc. Additionally, a perfectly smooth glossy surface is prone to scuffs and scratches, so a glossy case requires careful handling.
—
Corrugated. This surface makes the case more comfortable and secure to use, as it provides a more secure grip and reduces the risk of your phone slipping out of your hands. In addition, this type of surface, like the matte rough surface, prevents marks and streaks from appearing on the surface. The vast majority of covers have anti-shock properties. The corrugated surface can be represented as a classic plexus of cross lines, as well as different elements of a textured array. Cases with a corrugated surface are most often created from plastic, polycarbonate and polyurethane.
—
Transparent.... Transparent case allows you not to hide the natural colour and texture of the smartphone. Protection with a transparent surface is most often made of silicone, less often — of polycarbonate or plastic. Usually, transparent cases provide good protection against scuffs and scratches.
— Mirror. The basis of the mirror surface can be either polished metal or tempered glass glued to a metal frame. In some models, a special grade of polycarbonate, fixed to a metal base, acts as a mirror. Mirror cases belong to the class of fashion cases and, above all, they are distinguished by high decorative value, making the smartphone visible from afar. Mirror protection also has disadvantages. So, a mirror unprotected with an oleophobic coating quickly gets dirty with fingerprints. Additionally, the glass surface can slide in the hands.
— Gradient. Gradient is a special way of coloring the cover, which involves uneven application of paint, that is, the dye is applied to different parts of the cover with different intensity. The gradient can be either monotone or colour. Covers with gradient painting have an increased level of decorative value.
— With a pattern. A special print (drawing) is applied to the back cover of the case. Covers with a pattern can be made from almost any material: metal, plastic, polyurethane, polycarbonate, wood, alcantara, etc.Thickness
This parameter directly depends on the material of the cover. Cases based on silicone can have the smallest wall thickness — the average silicone case has a wall thickness of only 0.5 mm. The greatest wall thicknesses belong to cases made of rubber and wood. Additionally, the form factor of a case can also affect the thickness of the case walls. Shockproof covers always have a massive texture — the thickness of the walls in shockproof cases can be over 3 mm.
