Maximum baby's weight
The maximum weight of the driver that the wheelchair can withstand without breakdowns and other troubles. Usually this indicator is indicated not for a one-time “trip”, but for regular use over a long period of time. At the same time, many models are able to endure a short-term excess of the maximum weight without visible consequences, but it is still not recommended to do this — it is possible that the structure will not break immediately, but its service life can be noticeably reduced.
Also note that it is worth choosing a gurney according to the maximum weight with a certain margin, and not only because the child is constantly growing. The fact is that manufacturers can indicate the maximum weight for simple conditions — a flat surface without bumps; when hitting bumps, the load may exceed the calculated load, even if the weight of the rider is within the normal range.
Wheel / skid material
— Plastic. Wheels made entirely of plastic; tyres as such do not have, its role is played by a thickened rim. Plastic is inexpensive and easy to process, in addition, it can be given almost any colour. On the other hand,
plastic wheels are very hard, and there is no question of any depreciation — even small roughnesses of ordinary smooth asphalt are transmitted to the structure in the form of tangible vibrations. And the strength of this material is also considered quite low.
—
Plastic with rubber. Wheels that combine plastic and rubber in construction. The first material usually forms the base of the wheel, and the rubber is only made into a thin, narrow strip around the rim where it contacts the ground. This somewhat softens the course, allowing you to save all the advantages of plastic (see above).
— Rubber. Wheels equipped with a solid rubber tyre — this is how they differ from the rubber-plastic ones described above. The base of the wheel is most often made of plastic, although there may be other options.
Rubber wheels perform best on bumps, which is why they are often found in models of the older age group.
— Wood. Wood is considered the most natural of the materials used in wheelchairs. From a practical point of view, it is almost completely similar to plastic, but it costs a little more.
Wooden wheels a
...re typical for wheelchairs in a classic design, since this material is used mainly for aesthetic reasons.Weight
The total weight of the wheelchair in working position. The lighter the weight, the easier it will be to move the device from place to place and the easier it will be for the baby to roll it; on the other hand, low weight usually indicates relatively low strength.
