Power consumption

The indicator of the power that a microwave draws from the socket during operation in the classic electromagnetic mode. This parameter is important not for the "speed of heating" but for understanding the load on the wiring, extension cord, inverter, or generator. It is often confused with "microwave power" (output), but in fact, a microwave can heat at 700–900 W while consuming approximately 1100–1500 W from the network due to losses and electronics operation. It is worth considering that when the grill or convection is turned on, the figure is significantly higher; for example, the grill often adds around 1000–1500 W. In practice, power consumption helps avoid surprises: if you have a weak extension cord or autonomous power supply, a microwave consuming 1400–1500 W may overload the line, whereas a simple model consuming around 1100–1200 W is easier to "get along" with in old wiring.
