Grill power

The intensity indicator of the grill heating element, which is responsible for browning and creating a “crust.” The higher the grill power, the faster the tops and edges of the dish are baked, leading to a better browned surface for chicken, fish, sandwiches, and casseroles, and faster drying of products when it's necessary to remove excess moisture from the top. Unlike the regular microwave power, which heats the food from the inside, the grill acts like a "top-oven," so a high value is especially noticeable on thin or portioned dishes. Grill power is usually found in the range of about 900–1500 W. 1000 W is a typical value that allows for conveniently making hot sandwiches quickly and achieving browned edges on pizza, and if the grill is closer to 1200–1500 W, it's noticeably easier to get a crust on a casserole or brown chicken/vegetables in less time, without over-drying the middle due to extended heating.
