Recommended room area
The area of the room for which the device is designed. This paragraph indicates the maximum area that this model can effectively serve: the use in smaller rooms is quite acceptable, but the device simply does not have enough performance for a larger space. We also note that the area is indicated based on a ceiling height of 2.5-3 m — the standard value for residential premises; with a higher ceiling height, the effective area decreases, and it can be recalculated using special formulas.
When choosing by area, it is worth taking a certain margin, but it should not be too large — otherwise, the device will turn out to be unnecessarily powerful, bulky and expensive.
Air circulation
The amount of air that the air cooler can pass through itself in an hour.
This parameter depends on the power and the overall level of the device, but there is no strict dependence here: models with the same effective power may differ in air circulation speed. In such cases, it is worth proceeding from the fact that a higher speed contributes to more uniform mixing of air and reduces the time required to create a given microclimate; on the other hand, higher-performance devices use more power, are larger and/or cost more.
Number of speeds
The number of preset speeds of the device. Air coolers mainly have adjustments with preset speeds — step by step; with this control, the speed is set by pressing the corresponding button. The more speeds, the more comfortable you can configure the devices to suit your needs and premises.
Water tank volume
The volume of the water tank installed in the air cooler. A large capacity allows you to work longer without adding water, but it affects the dimensions and weight of the device. It should be borne in mind that the cooler the water, the greater the cooling effect and frequent water changes are even beneficial. Also, do not forget that pathogenic bacteria can grow in water if there is water left in the tank and the device is not used for a long time.
Operating time
These are hours of operation per tank filling. It depends on the volume of the tank and the consumption of water. It allows you to understand how long the device can work independently without human intervention.
Wind simulation
This mode of operation periodically changes the speed of the fan, sometimes turning it off altogether, creating gusts of wind. Different manufacturers call this mode differently:
nature mode, comfort mode, breeze mode, natural, and the like, but they all serve the same purpose.
Ionizer
A device for saturating the air with negatively charged ions. It is believed that the presence of such ions in the air has a beneficial effect on health and well-being, and also creates a feeling of freshness. In addition,
ionization helps to reduce the amount of flying dust — it settles faster on various surfaces.
Display
The display makes the control of the device more visual. The display can show information about the current operating mode, the set timer, the status of the filter or water tank, etc. Information about the status of humidity and temperature can also be displayed. Displays, as a rule, are equipped with expensive models with electronic control.
Control
The type of control provided in the device.
Note that
mechanical and
electronic devices can use the same elements — buttons, rotary knobs, sliders, etc. — and as a result almost do not differ from each other in appearance. The difference lies in the fact that the mechanical control directly affects the working part of the device (for example, when the knob is turned, the resistance of the rheostat that regulates the power changes), and the electronic one sends a signal to the control circuit, which accordingly changes the parameters of the device. The advantages of mechanical control are simplicity, reliability and low cost. However, it allows you to adjust only basic functions, and the accuracy of adjustments is low. In turn, with electronic control, various additional features can be provided and individual operation parameters can be very precisely adjusted, but such control is more complicated and expensive. Also, electronic control can be
touch-sensitive, which gives the device elegance and elevates it to a more advanced level.
