Model overview based on user reviews
The TP-LINK Archer C64 router is a compact and affordable dual-band device offering both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, making it suitable for apartments and small homes. Users appreciate its easy setup and stable performance, with many highlighting its ability to handle multiple devices simultaneously without issues. The router supports MU-MIMO technology, enhancing its capability for gaming and streaming. However, some users have experienced connection drops and issues with the WAN port, which can be frustrating. Despite these concerns, many find it to be a great value for the price, especially for those with internet speeds up to 100 Mbps. Its minimalist design and powerful signal are additional positives, though fixed antennas and occasional power consumption concerns are noted. Overall, the Archer C64 is recommended for those seeking a reliable and cost-effective router, though potential buyers should be aware of the occasional connectivity issues reported by some users.

a very good router for the price/quality ratio.

For its price, this router is very good. Now I have something to compare it with. It worked for over 2 years without any complaints about connection stability. I used the latest firmware version and also set it to reboot once a week in the settings. However, I didn't connect many devices at the same time, maybe 4-5 at most. My apartment is small, so I can't say anything bad about the coverage. During power outages, the consumption is quite low - 3-4 W along with the ONU terminal. Recently, I purchased what seems to be a more "advanced" model, the AX55 Pro (consumption 6-9W), as I switched to a 1Gbit tariff plan, and the C64 via Wi-Fi 5GHz provided approximately 600-650 Mbit/s at maximum and usually 300-500. I wanted a stable 850-900 over Wi-Fi. In fact, the AX55 Pro is more than three times more expensive, twice the size, the admin panel is glitchy and slow, the reboot takes significantly longer, and the speed is about the same. I measured it on devices that support both Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6. Also, judging by the speed measurements, the smart connect function (automatic mode selection between 2.4 and 5 GHz) doesn't work quite correctly, choosing 2.4 GHz, even when the laptop is a meter away from the router, resulting in speeds not exceeding 80 Mbit. Such problems were not noticed with the C64 router. Therefore, I'm very disappointed with the AX55 Pro.

Didn't work for 2 years.

Suitable for an apartment
2 bands, remote control
Having survived two default winters with frequent power outages, each time the power was restored, it required manually turning off the lights that were off in the settings. But in less than 2 years, it "died" for no reason, with no storm or outages, just powered on for a second and then shut off. They provided a replacement under warranty, but without extending the warranty period.

excellent router

I finally found the router that you "set up and forget". Before this, I had Tenda routers, and although the brand is quite good and they work well for my friends, I always had some trouble with them. It got to the point where I needed to restart it every evening because it felt like the cache was getting clogged or it was overheating. I couldn't take it anymore, so I decided to switch to this one, and since then, I've completely forgotten that I need to deal with the router. It's just fantastic. The internet works stably on all connected devices. You can watch Netflix on the TV in one room and play online games in another without any freezes. By the way, I gave that old Tenda router to another person to try, and it's working fine for them without interruption. This just shows why reviews from different people can vary!

I recommend this device if you need dual-band WiFi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and if you need the MU-MIMO technology, which I believe is super important for gaming. Plus, the price is nice, and for a studio apartment, you probably don't need more. To keep the review relevant, I'd like to add that I'm using gigabit internet via fiber optic.

A decent router with a gigabit internet connection doesn't have to cost a fortune. At an affordable price, you can purchase the TP-LINK Archer C64 - the model will fit for an apartment, a relatively small private house and a SOHO-class office.

Compact body

The device turned out to be very compact - the dimensions of its body are 120x120x28 mm. Only four non-removable antennas increase the dimensions of the router (two for each range). The model provides throughput up to 300 Mbps at 2.4 GHz and up to 800 Mbps when using a carrier frequency of 5 GHz. Works TP-LINK Archer C64 with Wi-Fi class AC1200.

Technological "chips"

All ports and buttons are located on the back of the router case - this is a power connector, one WAN, four LANs and a WPS / reset button. Alas, there is no USB port among the interfaces, the budget breed of the model affects. But the device supports MU-MIMO and Beamforming. The first feature distributes traffic between clients, the second one redirects the wireless signal towards connected devices.

Positive Factors

The router fully supports the processing of VPN traffic, correctly routes IPTV streams, and ensures the operation of all current security protocols (including WPA 3). The model settings are managed both through the browser and through the TP-Link Tether mobile application. As a result, Archer C64 pleasantly surprises with its performance and speed of the Internet connection.
