Google Pixel XL 32 GB

The largest of the Googlephones is equipped with the latest technology: the smartphone uses the flagship hardware (Snapdragon 821 processor and 4 GB of RAM), a 5.5-inch high-resolution screen (2560x1440 pixels) is installed, and its main camera at the time of the announcement was named the best among mobile phones. Getting high-quality photos and videos is the prerogative of a 12.3-megapixel sensor with a large size of a single pixel (1.55 microns), which eliminates the not-so-outstanding aperture ratio (f/2.0).
The front of the Google Pixel XL 32GB has an 8MP selfie camera. The basis of the software shell of the smartphone is the Android 7.1 OS, which is embedded with the Google Assistant voice assistant. Not the largest, as for a QuadHD screen, the capacity of the battery installed in the smartphone (3450 mAh) brightens up support for Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. As usual for a flagship, the smartphone is equipped with an NFC, a USB Type-C port and a nimble fingerprint scanner.
Perfect Android Smartphone
Initially, the Pixel series of smartphones was conceived as a kind of perfect Android smartphone, which other manufacturers will be equal to. Over time, the series went somewhere in the wrong direction, but the first models were really successful.
legendary camera
Usually, any review of the Pixel begins with laudatory odes to its camera. At the time of the announcement, the Pixel camera was the best among all smartphones. Naturally, a few years later, progress has stepped forward (hello Apple and Huawei with their super-cameras), but even by today's flagship standards, the Pixel XL takes excellent shots — it's not without reason that it has 90 points from the authoritative DxOMark resource and is included in the top best camera phones on the market . That being said, the camera module itself doesn't really stand out from the competition, but the software makes it really interesting.
large pixel
Externally, the Google Pixel XL is an enlarged copy of the Pixel. It uses the same design with a glass front and fairly large bezels around the screen. The edges and back of the Pixel XL are made from aircraft-grade aluminium, but there is a glass insert on the back that houses the camera unit and a fingerprint scanner.
AMOLED screen with 2K resolution
The 5.5-inch Google Pixel XL display uses an AMOLED matrix with a resolution of 2560x1440, which is covered with a protective glass Gorilla Glass 4. The screen shows a wide colour gamut, typical for this type of matrix. Right out of the box, the colour scheme of the screen is rather cold with a bias towards blue tints, which could be called a minus, but in the settings menu it can be switched to sRGB mode with warmer shades. Overall, the screen is still excellent even compared to the latest flagships from Samsung and Huawei.
4 cores
But where the Pixel XL really sags is in terms of hardware. It uses the once-flagship quad-core Snapdragon 821, which now demonstrates performance at the level of mid-range processors. It does not slow down, but there can be problems with demanding games. In principle, now it cannot be listed as a minus, but it does not have a margin of safety either. Also, potential buyers are unlikely to like that there is only 32 GB of internal memory, which cannot be expanded with memory cards.
Full function menu
In terms of connectivity and functionality, Google Pixel XL looks quite fresh and modern: it has a fast fingerprint scanner with no accidental touches, a relatively capacious battery with fast charging, a USB-C port, a separate 3.5 audio output, an NFC, and OTG functions are also supported. to connect peripherals via USB and DLNA to exchange content "over the air".
