In mid-2005, Canon announced the release of the 12.8-megapixel EOS 5D camera. This lightweight camera - with a magnesium alloy body - represents a new generation of digital SLR cameras with a full-frame CMOS sensor. Weighing just 810 grams, it features a second-generation 35.8 x 23.9mm CMOS sensor that shoots at 3fps and 60 high-resolution JPEGs in continuous burst. The turn-on time of the camera is only 0.2 seconds.
With a frame size equivalent to that of 35mm film, the 35.8 x 23.9mm CMOS sensor allows images to be viewed at full viewing angles without graininess without the need for zooming. This ensures tighter control of the depth of field and high image quality due to the large number of pixels that now capture even more light.
- Supports new Picture Style feature with preset shooting modes (much easier to control image quality)
- Compatible with Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E1
- Supports user mode to quickly restore user settings
