Fourth generation

Transcend MTE255S is a 1 TB NVMe M.2 drive delivering sequential read speeds up to 7400 MB/s and write speeds up to 5200 MB/s (the 2 TB version is even faster—up to 6500 MB/s). When working with small files, it reaches up to 700 thousand IOPS (input/output operations per second). The device runs over the PCIe Gen4 interface and is backward compatible with Gen3, where the limit is 3700 MB/s.

Ultra-thin heatsink

Unlike the previous MTE250H model with a massive finned heatsink, this one uses an ultra-thin plate made of an aluminum-graphene alloy. This material offers high thermal conductivity, making the drive suitable for PCs, laptops including ultrabooks, as well as the PlayStation game console. Reliability is ensured by LDPC technology—an advanced variant of ECC error correction.

Health status

The failure-free service life is stated at up to 2 million hours, and the warranted write endurance is 600 TBW. This means that over five years you can rewrite a third of the drive’s capacity every day, which is virtually impossible in home use. The Transcend SSD Scope app helps monitor the drive’s condition, update firmware, and clone the operating system.
