Canon introduces the PowerShot SX120 IS, a high-quality, easy-to-use compact digital camera with a high-resolution 10x optical zoom, DIGIC 4 image processor and Smart Auto mode that allows even a novice to capture superb image quality.

The new PowerShot SX120 IS builds on its popular predecessor, the PowerShot SX110 IS, with an ergonomic design that combines sleek lines and an attractive black finish.

The PowerShot SX120 IS camera is a tool for shooting various scenes and events. The 10x optical zoom is suitable for capturing family reunions and school sporting events where it is often necessary to get even closer to the subject.
High-definition with the PowerShot SX120 IS can be achieved with technologies that noticeably reduce blur and camera shake. Image stabilizer, ISO Auto mode and motion detection technology work together to provide a reliable solution for blur control. The PowerShot SX120 IS is equipped with a 10 megapixel sensor and Canon DIGIC 4 image processor for natural colour reproduction and fast response time. The DIGIC 4 processor also makes it possible to shoot in difficult lighting conditions with i-Contrast, which prevents loss of detail in the shadows.

To make shooting easier, the PowerShot SX120 IS features Smart Auto and Easy modes with Scene Recognition. Based on the analysis of information about the presence of people in the frame, distance, lighting and colours of the scene, the camera automatically selects one of 18 settings options.

More advanced users can apply additional shooting modes such as aperture priority or shutter speed priority. There is the possibility of fully manual control - for those who want to experiment.

The PowerShot SX120 IS features a new face detection feature powered by DIGIC 4. It can recognize up to 35 faces in a frame and automatically adjust focus and exposure for the best results. This feature includes automatic red-eye reduction, autofocus/autoexposure/flash exposure compensation, and a self-timer for excellent results with group shots and self-portraits by only releasing the shutter when a new face enters the frame. Recognition occurs even when faces are facing the camera at an angle, so you will get the correct focus and exposure whether or not the people you are photographing are looking at the camera.

The face memory function also allows you to choose the main character of the shooting. The camera will automatically track the movements of the selected person and adjust the settings, and you can easily capture the right person even in a crowd.
