How to choose a motherboard?Motherboard is the main part of any computer. Here's how to choose the right one for work, play and entertainment
Cool motherboard with a top chip at a very nice price
19 June 2019
I got the motherboard for the i7-9700KF processor. My processor has the R0 stepping, so I had to update the BIOS as it wasn't supported out of the box. After the update and assembly, the system started without any issues. Initially, I considered Asus and MSI motherboards, but their high-end boards were too expensive for my budget. ASRock's pricing policy, however, allows you to get a high-end motherboard at a significantly lower price than competitors. A friend has a PC built on the ASRock Z370 Extreme4, and he is very satisfied. That's why I chose this board. I have HyperX Predator memory modules, 2 sticks of 8 GB each with a frequency of 3200 MHz. They started up immediately after activating the XMP profile. I haven't overclocked the processor yet, waiting for a new power supply; I'm not taking risks with the old one. I don't think I'll encounter VRM zone overheating during overclocking, as the motherboard has very decent heatsinks on the transistors. Nice RGB lighting with a total of 7 modes. The package includes an SLI bridge, two SATA cables, a driver disc (2019, yeah), and instruction manuals.

In conclusion: I am satisfied with the motherboard. Based on various tests and comparisons with other motherboards online, it does not lag behind more well-known manufacturers and even surpasses them in some tests. Considering the price, I think it's one of the best options on the market.
Top-tier chipset
Cool board design, black PCB
Massive heatsinks on the CPU power delivery
User-friendly BIOS
RGB lighting
8 SATA connectors
At the moment, I haven't noticed any. I hope nothing changes in the future)

extreme gaming

After the presentation of the Z390 chipset, the Taiwanese company ASRock did not pull the bull by the horns and released 12 diverse (but actually damn similar) motherboards at once. The hero of today's ASRock Z390 Extreme4 review is somewhere in the middle of this line: having a pumped-out power system and a rich functional set, it does not have Wi-Fi / Bluetooth modules and a heat pipe between the VRM radiators like the older brothers Z390 Taichi and Z390 Phantom Gaming 9.

Perfect balance of price and functionality

A feature of ASRock boards is often a near-perfect balance of price and functionality, and the ASRock Z390 Extreme4 is a great example of this approach. The board boasts a pair of cooled M.2 connectors, three reinforced PCIe 16x and a set of high-speed USB 3.1 gen2 interfaces (there are both USB-A and USB-C). It is also worth noting the good ASRock Polychrome Sync backlight synchronization system and the excellent sound capabilities of the audio path, which uses a pumped version of the Realtek ALC1220 codec, supports Creative Sound Blaster Cinema 5 multi-channel sound technology and has an optical output.

No weak spots

In general, ASRock turned out to be a solid gaming board without significant flaws. Of the shortcomings, one can only note the not very good location of the DDR slots, which can interfere with the installation of a large cooling system.
