This is a linear stepper motor for fast and quiet focus. The optical design of Tamron 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di OSD has 15 elements in 10 groups.

These include two aspherical glass elements and four LD elements to eliminate aberrations. The front element of the lens is coated with a fluoride coating to protect against dirt, grease and moisture. Another type of BBAR coating prevents flare and ghosting from appearing in the frame. The diaphragm of the model consists of 7 rounded petals. Shirik is compatible with 77mm filters and Tamron TAP-in docking station for firmware updates and fine-tuning of the autofocus system. The lens weighs 460 g, the dimensions of its body are 84x93 mm.
