Gaming Storm
Right after the announcement of the NVIDIA GTX 16 lineup, Palit introduced their upgraded version of the cards, calling it quite aptly a "storm." The main difference from the standard model is the reduced size of the card and dynamic boost up to 1815 MHz. This is not a bad figure, although the term "storm" doesn't particularly come to mind. For example, the overclocked version of the GTX 1060 Ti from Gigabyte runs at 1800 MHz straight out of the box. However, we won't nitpick about the names.
Compact Single Cooler
The main distinctive feature of the Palit version lies in its unusual form factor. Instead of a dual cooler, we have a reduced single cooling system, which includes an aluminum radiator, three copper heat pipes, and one axial fan. This allowed the card length to be reduced from the standard 226 mm to 168 mm, which is sure to attract owners of small cases with microATX motherboards. Meanwhile, the cooling system manages the chip cooling just as well as reference dual coolers, not exceeding 65°C even with serious manual overclocking.
Maximum Performance for Every Dollar Spent
In terms of price-to-frames-per-second ratio, the 1660 Ti from Palit looks very appealing. In terms of power, it stands somewhere on the level of the GeForce GTX 1070, with bandwidth close to the GTX 1080. First of all, these are last generation cards and secondly, they are more expensive. Translated into gaming terms, at Full HD resolution and with maximum graphic settings, this card will on average deliver 40 FPS in the resource-hungry "Metro: Exodus" and 108 FPS in "Far Cry 5." These are excellent indicators, and a video memory reserve of 6GB allows us to hope for similar figures in a year or two.
