Economy Option
The Intel Core i5-14400F OEM represents a budget modification of the processor, supplied without a standard cooler and branded packaging. Nevertheless, it still comes with a three-year warranty, which is a step forward compared to the previous one-year term. The chip belongs to the Raptor Lake Refresh lineup — the latest for the LGA 1700 socket. It is manufactured using Intel 7 technology, which in practice corresponds to a 10-nm process. It is compatible with DDR4 and DDR5 RAM, including non-binary modules.
Cores and Threads
The processor is equipped with six high-performance Raptor Cove cores and four energy-efficient Gracemont cores. Moreover, the high-performance cores support Hyper-Threading. The absence of an integrated graphics core is indicated by the F index in the model name. Although the cache size is only 20 MB, its speed is higher due to the monolithic architecture compared to competing Ryzen solutions.
Turbo Boost
The PCIe 5.0 interface unlocks potential for modern graphics cards, including the GeForce 5000 series. Turbo Boost technology allows the high-performance cores to automatically increase their frequency up to 4.7 GHz, and the energy-efficient ones up to 3.5 GHz. The maximum heat dissipation can reach up to 148 W, which is important to consider when selecting a cooling system. A liquid cooling system might be excessive, while a quality tower-type air cooler would be excellent.
