DJI has been dictating fashion in the field of radio-controlled flying gadgets for several years in a row. The upgrade package, which has found application in the fourth generation of its Phantom quadcopter line, has made the model more technologically advanced and perfect in control.
Redesigned gears
Compared to its predecessor, the DJI Phantom 3, the drone received a completely redesigned body with a centre of gravity shifted towards the propellers. This made it possible to achieve better manoeuvrability and responsiveness in control. The screws themselves no longer need to be screwed in — just put them on the engines until they click. The design of the copter has not changed much, except for the glossy finish of its surface, which looks very impressive.
Obstacle flying
To eliminate the loss of orientation in the surrounding space, they bothered to build two compasses at once into the body of the quadcopter. The number of ultrasonic sensors and technical cameras for drone positioning has also grown. Thanks to them, he confidently flies around obstacles, and if it is impossible to perform a manoeuvre, he automatically stops in front of them. The distance to obstructing objects is measured in real time, and the flight path, if necessary, avoiding obstacles is saved.
Remote control
A sports mode appeared on the remote control of the copter, when activated, the drone is able to conduct high-quality video recording in resolution up to 4K with a maximum speed of 72 km/h. The only caveat is that at such a high speed, parts of the propellers can get into the frame. The remote control is equipped with a capacious battery (6000 mAh), the charge of which is enough for 5-6 full flights. The range of its work is 5 km.
High-quality video filming
The smoothness of shooting videos is achieved with the help of a reinforced suspension. As befits DJI products, the complete camera stands out for its excellent video recording quality: in 4K resolution (3840x2160 pixels) it records videos with a frame rate of up to 30 fps, and in FullHD (1920x1080 pixels) — up to 120 fps. The camera lens captures in its field of view most of the visible space in front of itself — its viewing angle is 94 °.
Flight modes
We didn’t forget about a number of “smart” flight modes, among which I would like to mention automatic tracking of the shooting object (FollowMe), following the point specified by tapping on the screen of the connected gadget (TapFly) and approaching objects of interest along the way (ActiveTrack). And most importantly, on a single charge of a high-capacity battery (5350 mAh), the DJI Phantom 4 is able to stay in the air for up to 28 minutes.(25% longer than its predecessor).

- The Phantom 4 model primarily features the new "ActiveTrack" and "TapFly" features. Also, the new Phantom has increased range, speed and flight time.
active track
This function allows the quadcopter to follow the selected object. This does not require special bracelets or beacons, unlike the "Follow me" function. The camera takes a 3D image of the subject and keeps it in the centre of the frame even if it is moving.
tapfly
The Phantom 4 has an advanced optical sensor for automatic flight. With it, the drone will avoid obstacles on the way in the "ActiveTrack" mode. It is enough to select an object with a touch of a finger on the screen and your Phantom will follow it avoiding various obstacles in the range of 0.7-15 metres.
